My Story

I have been the Matron at the Alan Hudson Centre (an Arthur Rank Hospice Charity Service) now for 19 years. During this time I have supported services to grow and expand and we now offer support to Fenland patients from diagnosis through to end of life. We then continue to support their loved ones moving forward. As a Charity, we can only do what we do, with the support of our commnuity.

Many of my colleagues have completed challenges to raise vital funds and now its my turn. Please do support if you can and I will do my best in return. My amazing husband, Ian, has continuously supported me, with my role at the centre. He gives his support to all the events we as a Charity organise, and is also doing the challenge with me.

This exhilarating five-day journey includes three days of trekking. With steep rocky paths to contend with, endurance fitness is a must!

But the challenge will be worth it – the breathtaking views from the summit, stretching across to the Sahara Desert, and the immense sense of accomplishment will make every step worthwhile.

Sponsorship raised on this incredible challenge – three tough days of trekking around eight hours a day and camping whilst on the mountain – will enable the Charity to continue to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care. Arthur Rank Hospice Charity care for around 3,800 patients each year at the Hospice in Cambridgeshire, the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. The outstanding care is provided free of charge to patients and their families.
